Determine Tank Size
The first step to propane tank installation is determining which size tank is appropriate for you. We install tanks as small as one-gallon fork lift cylinders to 2000 gallon tanks. Prepare the Site
Once the appropriate tank size is determined, we need to select a spot on your property to begin the home propane tank installation. We will begin by reviewing the regulation allowed zones of your property.
Below is an illustration of the allowable areas. Please use this only as a guide. We will work with you to make a final decision.
Placement Guidelines
125- to 500-gallon water capacity, above ground
10 foot minimum to nearest line which may be later built upon. 10 foot minimum from structure, intake to direct vent appliance, or central A/C compressor (ignition source).
Under 125-gallon water capacity, above ground
5 foot minimum from crawl space opening or structure. 10 foot minimum from intake to direct vent appliance, central A/C compressor (ignition source) or window A/C (ignition source).
Up to 2000-gallon water capacity, above ground container
25 foot minimum to nearest line which may be later built upon. 25 foot minimum from structure.
Up to 2000-gallon water capacity, underground container
10 foot minimum to nearest line which may be later built upon. 10 foot minimum from structure, intake to direct vent appliance, or central A/C compressor (ignition source).
Concrete pads are not required for above ground tanks. However, it does make tank installation quicker and easier.
Our Installation Process
When our propane technicians arrive on site, they will go through the following process:
1.
Use crane to set and install tank in proper location.
2.
Dig 18” trench and run lines to all propane units.
3.
Back fill the propane line and place warning tape on top of ground.
4.
Install monitor on tank, to make sure you never run out.
5.
Complete final hook up of line to propane units and test to make sure there are no leaks.
6.
Start propane units to make sure they are running properly.
